01.25.06: TV ON TV Tune in to WLIW, public television on Sunday, January 29th, at 7 P.M. to see the concert footage of Born To Boogie. Tony Visconti will be co-hosting the show. Born To Boogie was released on DVD in April 2005 (Sanctuary Records) and was a smash hit. The film features T. Rex with guest stars Elton John and Ringo Starr. Ringo was also the director. Tony wrote the underscore, recorded and mixed the sound in back in 1972. In 2005 he remixed the sound in both stereo and glorious surround sound. Tony is also interviewed on the bonus DVD along with others involved in making the film. The interviewer is Marc Bolan's son, Rolan Bolan. The film is a combination of music performed on stage at Wembley Arena and in Apple Studios, London. The film is interspersed with several improvised, Fellini-esque, sketches featuring Starr, Bolan, Geoffrey Bayldon (Catweazel) and Visconti, as the conductor in the picnic scene. WLIW is playing the concert footage only, the Wembley concert intact. There will be some songs in this version that do not appear in the official film. This is included as a bonus with the DVD, but If you don't have the DVD this is certainly worth watching -- if you're a T. Rex fan (and who isn't?)!
