AUGUST 23, 2004:

Matt Pinfield brought Coheed & Cambria, and producer Mike Birnbaum to the studio to hear the final results. The band is taking a few days off at the end of their US tour, before playing to crowds in Europe.

"Awesome," was uttered many times.

AUGUST 9, 2004: A TRIP AND A MIX

The Trip:

In July I found myself on an SAS flight to Copenhagen (as in "Wonderful, wonderful...,"etc.) It was not my first time there. In 1974 I was chasing a group called T. Rex from city to city trying to record their next album. We recorded "Telegram Sam" and "Baby Strange" there. But I digress. I was flying there to meet a Danish group called Kashmir. Prior to the trip I became a big Kashmir fan, a very new one. They have been together for almost a decade, but I was introduced to them by their new album on Sony called Zitilites. We spent four days sequestered in their studio whipping up four songs for their new album to be recorded in January 2005. They had recorded most of Zitilites in this small studio, produced by themselves. Now they are looking to record the new one in a bigger space and to work with a record producer, hence my visit. It is too early to say more about the music, visit their website and learn more about them. I had a great time with Kashmir and I'd love to do that new album!

The Mix:

I am currently mixing Coheed and Cambria's new CD, In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3, in 5.1 SACD surround format. Matt Pinfield, now a vice president at Columbia records sent the CD to me and I fell for this band instantly. What a treat to be working with this terrific new band. I am now a BIG fan. Matt dropped by today to hear the first few mixes we have done and he was thrilled.

Another dropper-by was none other than the multi-talented Carla Rhodes, who instructed me in how to update my own news site, so this is a first. I just want to report in more frequently whilst Carla takes care of the big stuff, like web design.
