>> T. REX :: TANX This album was a turning point. It was apparent to critics and some fans alike that we were repeating ourselves. Nothing new was happening on this album. The truth is, the band was now touring constantly, Marc was writing songs in hotel rooms, and very little time was spent rehearsing. The band dragged themselves into the studio to record this one, the bulk of which was recorded at the Chateau D'Hérouville in three days. Marc was irritable. His former room at this studio was occupied by the new owner, who was absent. Marc ordered his road manager to throw all the owner's clothes out of the bedroom so that he could have it. He also complained when we took a little too long to eat our supper. His comment was, "I'm not paying you to eat. Get up into the studio and work!" He doesn't know how close it came to mutiny. Still, Tanx stands up as a formidable album. I feel this was the last great T.Rex album.
