>> T. REX :: MARC (WORDS AND MUSIC) / T. REX IN CONCERT

These were the first posthumously released albums after Marc's death in '77. I had the acoustic demo of "The Children Of Rarn", the proposed rock opera in my vaults (actually at the bottom of a long-forgotten box). I pulled it out and got a chill when I heard how clear it sounded and how great the songs were. I took it to Marc's former publisher David Platz, and since he technically owned this tape, I asked if he'd back me to embellish the guitar and vocal tape with some basic orchestral backing, the way Marc and I would've done it. He agreed and that's what you hear. I think it's an okay projection of what might have been.

T.Rex in Concert is a compilation of live tapes recorded by Mike O'Halloran, Marc's former roadie and sound man. We did the best we could with these, because a live concert was never actually recorded on proper equipment when Marc was alive.

After these tapes were released, a plethora of Marc's demos and studio working tapes were released by all and sundry. Marc would've been appalled. He was so paranoid about getting bootlegged, he would take his master tapes home every night during the making of an album.

But that can't be avoided. Marc is still with us -- on many scraps of tape, that's true -- but in spirit he lives, and he lives on through his music, and the music he's inspired many other artists to create.
